You wouldn't have been the first to have suffered embarrassment of this type I assure you. It's not a bad time to be tackling it (although I am sure you would rather not be tackling it at all) - things will at least be dried out when your poor hubby gets over to work on it, in horrible internal heat

I feel terrible that he has to go over and do it especially as he is working on a really tough project at the moment but no choice

Yes - leave windows open a little (where safe) and also leave all internal doors open to assist airflow. It might be worth checking your roof for leaks but I guess this would show up as damp patches on your ceilings.

If no others are having the same problem then ask what they do and try and copy them.
