Yes, we have a zapper too, but it's when you are out and about away from the zapper that you get bitten.

I only ever got bitten occasionally, normally at the top of my bum crack during the night. I've done my bit, I doubt they'd survive such a visit.

I understand Scunner's post , I used to know a girl , Dawn was her name, she used to suffer the same as Keith ,but generally early in the morning the critters used to strike. You could say they used to bite at the crack of Dawn  !!   ;)

We have been going to places with the buggers for years now and finally found a great solution! A product called "Skin so soft!" by Avon. It is a very light oil and apparently they hate the oil on thier wings. Anyway it works for us. We haven't had a bite for years.

This year nothing has worked for me.  I've used Sin Kov, Skin so Soft and citronella oil, still getting loads of bites.

Over the years I have heard lots of advice about how to deal with the mozzies and their bites:

Drink Raki
I am still conducting research into this. Results are inconclusive and the matter needs more research.

Wear deodorant
Apparently they don’t like the smell. (see below)

Don’t wear deodorant
Go out Turkish style. Nature will do the rest.

Toothpaste
Rubbing it on bites is supposed to relieve the itching

Marmite
This advice came from the same person as the toothpaste tip.He didn’t make it clear that you are supposed to eat it. I can tell you that rubbing it on bites is messy and does not help.........

Chris has to really be careful not to get bitten as they always become swollen and infected, over the years she has tried just about everything and we've come to the conclusion that you have to find your own solution, Avon, Jungle Sprays, Toothpaste, Electric Clickers, Raki, Anti Histamine, Garlic Capsules, Plug Ins, you name it, she's tried it and none of the above have worked. Last year we had those automatic Raid sprays dotted around the place and they were very good, for some reason we've not been able to find the refills anywhere this year.

For Chris, it's Sin Kov, applied head to toe on top of Skin so Soft, but believe me, if you miss a square centimetre, they will find that spot and get you. If she does get bitten the the Aspivenim product mentioned earlier by someone works really well by removing the infected matter and so eliminating the itching.

As for me, I'm not sure if I get bitten and don't react or whether they don't like the taste of me, I've never once been bothered by them.
