A system where someone says they will come and do a job, and actually turn up.

This, in my experience, is becoming an increasingly tiresome issue here in the UK too  :(

Is there anywhere in Calis where you can have clothes made to measure? A dressmaker?

Yes I would have to concede the point about the UK. We have a requirement for a tradesman - not a big job but work all the same. Our usual tradesman came to see what was required and never sent his quote. We saw excellent work by another tradesman at a house we pass, and asked the owner for details, which they were happy to share (and recommend).

We phoned him, he was quite charming and said he would come the next morning indeed, at 9am. That was the last we ever heard from him.

Yep, very irritating. Rang three painters and decorators and asked them to come and quote for doing the interior of our bar. All agreed and all sounded very enthusiastic. Only one actually turned up (didn't hear anything from the others, not even an apology for wasting my time).

Needless to say the one who did turn up got the job - I'm not at all sure whether I paid over the odds for his work or not, having nothing to compare to. And he was from the other side of Doncaster as of the 11 decorators I rang, not 1 Sheffield decorator could actually do the work within 6 weeks....

It's a similar story with all the tradesmen. Electricians in Sheffield? Where are you? Joiners? Do you even exist anymore?

Moan, moan, whinge, whinge...sorry.  :(

Yes, two places.  One is on the Aqua Park Road.  She only makes and alters clothing for women only. I have used her and she is very good and very cheap.  I had three long dresses taken up last month.  It was 15 lira for the three.  She  will make clothes and does have material, however, if I got her to make a dress, I would bring my own material.  She has large premises with a changing room. :D
The other place is just before the Guitar Bar on the left.  A male tailor who I have not used, but gets good feedback too.  No changing room though.  ;)

I go to the Tailor in Gunlukbasi near the traffic lights by police station, she will copy any item you take in or make any item you describe to measure. Doesn't speak English but is a lot of fun talking to her and she always gets it right. She is fair with prices to, have had shorts 25TL, tops 25TL all either copied or made to measure if she had nothing similar in. I think most of the tailors here would also offer the same if you asked.

The best way to make money in Calls is .....  build a time-machine and go back 15 years .... buy an apartment from a waiter . and sell it to at an extortionate price to some unsuspecting mug from the UK    :)
