A short review of Calis... after a 2 year hiatus!
« on: July 31, 2013, 00:08:47 AM »
So the last visit was the summer of 2011, my only 'holiday' in 2012 was a weekend in Chelmsford for V Festival (at least it was a heatwave). Luckily this year the Calis bug itch has been scratched!

BMB seemed to be mostly in one piece when we arrived on the 15th July, otherwise there didn't seem to be much change noticeable change except the usual move around of staff between the restaurants and bars.

Overall, all meals out were lovely - except for one meal at Yeni Dunya in Fethiye when the boyfriend and I had one of our own nights out. And Mozaik Bahce once again never failed to please us, though I shall post restaurant reviews soon.

We found that Calis is a lot quieter than it has been in previous years, yet some nights the front would be very busy. Mondays were quietest as that seemed to be the transition day, but to those who have been before it is noticeably quieter.

Excursions: Blue Bays boat trip with Calis boats, always a relaxing day with a lovely lunch and a snorkel kit makes the stops more interesting when you can see what you're swimming above!
Jeep Safari we did with Evergreen this year, a very enjoyable day out and there was more time spent at the Yaka Park which I preferred this time around.
Kaya Koy, Mum and Dad did this trip and enjoyed it, a very interesting  day out. Though the parents recommend it more for a cooler day/month as it heats up very quickly and to wear sensible shoes as well!

All in all, it was a wonderful break away from the UK everyone enjoyed themselves greatly and relaxed a lot! Calis is still the wonderful place I remember and it was great sharing it with someone else who hadn't been before who loved it as well. My ultimate highlight? Seeing baby turtles hatch in the late afternoon on the beach, it was a lovely moment which will stick for a long time   :)

Nice post Miss M  :)

It's always nice to see new places in different countries but there is something about going back to the same place that appeals too. We have a place in Koca Calis and a timeshare on the Algarve. Obviously we go as much as possible to the former and once a year to the latter. What we do find is how quickly we settle in and get on with the holiday chilling bit. In both places we are always finding new things to do and places to go to but we also love the fact that we meet up with old friends and we are relaxed from the minute we get on the transfer bus.

It's a bit like finding that old pair of slippers - they fit so well and are so comfy  :)

Stoop you are so right, it is exactly like your favourite slippers, I couldn't put it better, we left on 28th June and we will be back on 24th Aug, and we will just carry on where we left off   :)

I agree with angela - that's a brilliant description Stoop!    :)

- a comfy old pair of slippers

We only usually visit once a year but as soon as we arrive it's just like that - comfy, cosy and relaxing!  ;D

It was very fortunate to see the turtles, we happened to be walking along the front with some ice cream then we saw some people gathered around one of the metal cages and went to have a look. One woman was feeling around in the sand and would scoop out two before passing them to another woman who placed them in a bucket covered in cardboard, as it was too early in the evening for them to be hatching! My boyfriend took some photos so I will try and get those off him and put them on here   :)

Your description of old slippers fits perfectly Stoop, a holiday somewhere that you know and enjoy feels a lot more relaxing!
