New Bus Route from UK to Turkey

Generally I would love to drive from UK to Calis/Fethiye, what an adventure! Sadly as still a wage slave cant do it for a year or three yet, but, these things take planning, any like minded for a minibus trip from Dover or Hull to Turkey in 2015/2016?

Perhaps stopping in Edirne, Istanbul area, Cappadocia, Ankara, Trabazon, and other points east/west/North/South perhaps 8 -12 weeks in total?

Any other crazy interested?

Far be it from me to chuck a spanner in the works at this early stage, but consider this.

I assume that you're thinking of renting a mini-bus for this trip? You must have the original V5C (log book) to produce at the Turkish border. I don't think you're going to have much success in persuading a UK rental company to let you have the original document. You'll also need to investigate the cost, and possibility, of insurance and breakdown cover for such a vehicle.

Actually was thinking of doing similar to what my Uncle did many years ago, bought a Diesel Van
in safe serviceable condition, drove it down to Greece, then island hopped, had a great traveling holiday with 6 others, drove it back again, sold it! (and the spares he bought such as belts, extra tyres, etc.)

It sounds like a brilliant adventure to me, John.

I definitely think you ought to do it and I also think you should video the whole experience. Just so we can watch it on here and revel in how brave (insane) you are.
