Immigration - You Can't be Too Careful
« on: August 19, 2013, 11:29:57 AM »
Just filled in the online application for a USA visa waiver, and they want to know things about you.

Have you ever been or are you now involved in espionage or sabotage; or in terrorist activities; or genocide; or between 1933 and 1945 were you involved, in any way, in persecutions associated with Nazi Germany or its allies?

I told my 79 year old mum just to deny everything.

And depending on which airport you land at they still ask you so many questions!

What happens if  you tick the box confirming that you are a spy/terrorist?  will they say thank you for being honest, as you have declared this information "Have a nice day"  ;D

I'm no expert but if I was involved in espionage I'd probably answer that question no.

The mother of a friend of mine, on a flight to the States, once put a neat little cross next to each and every one of those questions just to make absolutely sure they knew that the answer was no…  When she got there she was interrogated for about 2 hours.  I think they did see the funny side of it but they had to make sure.  Hilarious!!   ;D

There are probably more terrorists and spies INSIDE the U.S.A. trying to get out of the country, than there are trying to get in !!  ;)

Another set of useless questions - who on earth would answer yes? - ludicrous.
As daft as signs in the countryside saying "No Fly-Tipping"  Of course if I was about to dump a mattress or some old tyres, I would stop myself on seeing that sign.

I always find that so amusing and feel tempted to answer yes to some of the more outrageous questions.

As daft as signs in the countryside saying "No Fly-Tipping"

And the signs saying "No Shooting" that are riddled with bullet holes.
