I must be honest, I get irritated a little by some of the advertisements put on here by owners looking for long term renters. Not all of them, but some. Mainly the ones where people haven't contributed in weeks or months or never to the hundreds of other topics and feel no need to help others with the benefit of knowledge and experience that someone who is a property owner always has. They just ignore CBF, then turn up, plant an advert for free and still never contribute to any other topics. They are often not seen for dust when we are doing a fundraiser for local kids who really need their two pounds. But they think an advert should be free when it comes to the person making money being them.
I have no problem with people asking for long term accommodation and believe it or not I have no problem with people replying, offering their property to said renters (as long as they do that and don't paste a big advert as a reply).
I propose that we don't allow people to just use CBF as a place to advertise their luxurious abode for nothing anymore and not get involved with the advice and discussions. And go deaf when we need to sort out a 50 year old school toilet block held together with yellow p*** alone. I also am not keen to make it a money spinner for me either as I know there are always people in need of long term accommodation fairly quickly and I am not one to profit from the difficulties of others.
So I propose that a week today I will remove all adverts of this type and they can be replaced if the owner/advertiser wants to donate £20 to the 3C Childrens Charity, Animal Aid or Embrace. They can choose which one, whatever is their preference.
I don't know why I said "Proposed changes" in the title, as I'm going to do it anyway. Just thought you might like to know
