CHAPTER 5: Location, Location, Location
The day out with agent had served several purposes it seemed. I realised three bedroomed properties were not going to be large enough. That a degree of privacy was important to us. A sense of openness and views were very much preferred and the ability to travel easily in the region using public transport became a Top 3 essential. Narrowing down the location seemed to be the next step.
That 'moment in Uzumlu', stayed with me for a long time after my return. My Mum confessed the same. I realised I wasn't quite ready for nirvana. Yet.
With some minor collaboration from my family, I settled on focusing my search in the areas of Ovacik and Calis. Very different from each other, these two locations offered many property opportunities. My previous potential 'ideal property' shortlist was now quickly reduced from over forty to approx eight villas. My eldest son was due a holiday and he was duly despatched to stay in Calis with three days of viewings set up for him with three different agents. We'd discussed at length the many criteria and I was confident that his opinion on the properties would be similar to mine.
On his return we agreed to reduce the shortlist to five, three properties falling short for various reasons. TA and I were due in Calis five days later to meet with the remaining two agents. AND I had actually booked us a
two week stay! Our first in seventeen years after spending three months in Kashmir in 1996. I was actually wondering what we'd find to do for fourteen days .........
