Took my youngest son (32) to watch Man City v Norwich yesterday (Norwich were as bad as City were good).
Anyway - out shopping in the morning - we have this wonderful little fine dining retail bakery up Norf called
The Pound Bakery from which I regularly make a purchase :-)
So I decide to buy 2 Meat & Potato pies - as we always used to get a bovril and a pie each when we watched Oldham Athletic for many years as my 2 lads were youngsters - the price -
2 for £1.I took them home and just before I left for the ground I blasted them for 2 minutes in the microwave - placed them back in their foil containers and in a plastic bag and off I went.
Met James outside the entrance - went in
"fancy a bovril and a pie" he said -
"just get 2 bovrils I've got the pies and took out my plastic bag".
When he returned I said -
"how much would the pies have been?""£3.80p" he replied -
"for 2" -
"no EACH"£7.80p for 2 meat and potato pies !!!! - madness - no longer a sport for the working man!
Ps our pies were the same size and design and were just the right temperature - and nice to eat
