We are so lucky to be here !
« on: December 15, 2013, 19:26:19 PM »
We've just completed a fairly short road trip taking in a number of places north of here, although Akyaka and Yalikavak near Bodrum were lovely, Koycegiz, Milas, Soke, Didim, Altinkum and Kussadasi were bloody awful in the winter, I'm sure they are nice in the summer but like a closed fairground in the winter

Couldn't agree more - did the same trip last year - a week in Bodrum and a few days in Didim.

Came to the same conclusion :-)

Love Akyaka in the summer, not a lover of Altinkum at any time Rimms.  Nice to be able to have a look at different places during different times of the year though  :D

I used to say the same about Hisaronu - it may not be true today but I well remember enjoying crowded nights out in "H" in October then driving through on November 1st to a place that literally looked like a film set for a long deserted holiday resort.

It is not leecy - it is petrol and a full 99cc - (note - no road tax to pay or contact with officialdom at under 100cc) - and it gets me and my svelte like other half - everywhere around the region - spending a full 10 lira of fuel per month at a zillion miles to the gallon - bliss  :-)

Ps I just remembered AND we overtook a Turkish man on his Honda scooter this afternoon - he was on the phone at the time but we did breeze past !

That's another reason we are moving to Fethiye. I was out walking with my friend and we were talking about how quiet it was. After our walk, she said I don't know why you are complaing that its quiet, we have seen three people while we have been walking lol. Xx

Let's face it, you wouldn't visit most English holiday resorts out of season because of how dead they are, so no surprises that the Turkish resorts are no different.
