1978, first trip to America, walking past a Holiday Inn lounge, heard singing, went in and found a table next
to a reserved table. The singing was the Platters and at the interval came and sat next to us, heard our English
accents and spent the interval talking about us,them,London,UK generally.Really nice people, signed a menu for me
with some nice comments.
Met several famous people but can't think of any who were "off"
One of the nicest was Elvis Presley's uncle, Vester. Spent over an hour chatting to him, a really humble man.
He had recently lost his wife of many years so much of the conversation was about her,he built the wooden
house where Elvis was born,he lived next door. The OJ Simpson trial was all the news then and he disliked
OJ to the point of hatred. He sadly passed away a few years ago.
