Things to do with a child in April
« on: January 28, 2014, 10:09:21 AM »
Hi I will be in Calis in April with a 7 year old boy any suggestions of fun things to do.
I know the sea will be cold are there any warm swimming pools, kids clubs, parks, ten pin bowling etc.
We are staying at Telmessoss and have access to bikes.
I know about Sunday/ Tuesday markets and water taxi
Thanks

What day are you going in April?   The season does not start until the end of April and most pools get filled then.  They are cold, some stay cooler than the sea.  There is the Sultan City Aqua Park, but, again will probably not be open.  Even the water taxi does not start until the end of April, and if you look at the posts about the new work on the Canal there is not even the Water Taxi Office there at the moment.  There are small parks around Calis an the prom at Fethiye has a children's play park.  The new prom Park in Fethiye is very nice and the fountains light up at night.
The Turkish Delight Factory, if open, should be fun as you can watch it being made.

Hi,

If you jump on a dolmus to Fethiye there is a small bowling alley on the main road going into Fethiye, just past the hospital.  It's on the left hand side opposite Tansas.  Then there's Fethiye museum or it's a good time of year for walking so a trip up to Kaya would be good or to the Yoruk Village in Yaniklar.
Have fun.

Indoor pools at Sebad sports centre, Calis and the Ocean Blue hotel, Hisaronu. Bowling, as has been said, on the way to Fethiye from Calis on your laft hand side (very small, need to look hard for it as you pass), lovely play parks in Fethiye, just across from McDonalds and further into town beside Address Cafe. Going along the sea front road from Calis to Fethiye, nearly into Fethiye, there are trampolines on the left hand side with a train kids can ride on and little electric cars they can drive and if you have a bike for the child, there is a Traffic education park in Tasyaka where they can ride their bike round life like small roads. There is Calis Kids Club which have a group on Thursday and Saturday mornings (they have a closed goup on facebook - Calis Kids Club - where you could request information. They meet in Guvens restaurant. Hope this helps.

A crazy golf course is being build in Ovacik at the moment. There will also be trampolines and electrical cars.

We had a lovely day here http://www.akkayagarden.com/  last year, opens 1st April. They do a pick up / drop off service from Calis. Lots to do. Horse riding, boat trip through the mountains  (stunning!),  Kayak`s are available to hire. Beautiful swimming pool and a lovely restaurant.

Also a rarity in  Turkey, the email system works and communication is fabulous!   ;)

Thanks for the info guys, we never noticed the trampolines last year yasemin3, and we are staying in Hisaronu this year Dutchie so might nip along to Ovacik one night.

Not sure if this applies to the Fethiye area  ( Im sure it must) but flights into Turkey seem to be starting early/ more frequent this year with many hotels/ boat trips in the Marmaris area opening up a few weeks earlier than mormal. Flights from Edinburgh into Turkey seem to be running non stop from April onwards with no lull for April/May/June as has been the norm in the past  ( mabybe more options this year).

We had a choice based on our budget for flights to Crete or Bodrum this April from Edinburgh, and as we are spending 11 days in Hisaronu/3 in Dalyan this September we opted for Crete ( our first holiday love ), and I must say we are looking forward to trying some foods again that we don't see in Turkey that often, Snails, Goat, Rabbit, Octopus and my fav a good old pork pita gyros.
So all in all I think this year might start early for some, but still cold swimming pools for the little ones ( unless your pool is heated like the hotel we are visiting In Crete).  ;) Happy hols.
