Promenade to Fethiye from Calis
« on: January 30, 2014, 15:56:17 PM »
Hi all can someone tell me is it now possible to walk from Calis Beach area all the way to Fethiye without going on main roads, and if so has anyone got a map they can upload for me to use when I am over in June. Thanks Paul   :)

At the moment you can only get as far as the new bridge...then you must turn to the side of the Marina to the Petrol Station.....which is near KIPA and the Law Courts....There is still some work being done and once finished will mean you can walk as for as Devlet Hospital...and the new Duck Islands,  Ian

A leisurely walk right into town takes about an hour and a quarter allowing for time to navigate around the rough bits that are left. We always make it to the seaside bars opposite Volkan's dentist surgery at the Calis end. Then progress slows a bit for some reason.  When it's very hot, allow another 15 mins.

Ok this is our knowledge from last summer.
As this is 'Work in progress' if you stick really close to the water side there are earth mounds and odd areas of rubble to negotiate. Nothing serious. Mainly up by the hospital.  There's a need to come away from the water a bit in places.  I am unaware of progress on the path lately.  If you hang on a couple of weeks I'll let you know the current position and take some pics. We are in Calis then.
