Calis Car Boot Sale this Sunday - details

The next Çalış car boot sale takes place on Sunday 16 February.

The popular sales organized by Çalış Children’s Charity (3C’s) take place in the car boot car park next to the Bahar Hotel, just behind Çalış promenade and run from 7.00 until 2.00 with set up from 6.00 am.  A pitch costs 15TL which is 2 tables width. The 3C’s provide 2 tables free of charge to stallholders until they run out. They also provide recognized charities with one pitch and 2 tables free of charge.

The 3C’s stall (located by the flagpoles in front of the toilet block)  will have a big selection of books on sale as well as household items and clothing and I also understand there will be a considerable collection of  records (Liz101 will provide more details on this). All money raised on the 3C's stall together with the net stall hire income (the pitch fee income collected from the stallholders less the hire charges paid to the table supplier) goes to fund projects to help local children. For example the average car boot raises enough money for the 3C's to fund two bursaries to enable poor students to attend university who would otherwise be unable to afford to do so (well worth getting up at 4.00 am in the morning for   )

If you have unwanted goods but do not want the bother of getting up early on a Sunday morning and having your own stall, the 3C’s  would be more than grateful to take these off your hands and can collect if required.  Please ring 0536 373 9520 both for collections and for more car boot information. 

The 3C’s charity shop situated at the Eyna restaurant on Çalış promenade (just around the corner from the car boot car park) is also open on Car Boot Sundays from 10.00 am – 2.00 pm so if you do not find what you are looking for at the Car Boot why not pop into the shop and have a browse.  Eyna owners Nalan and Erhan will also be having their popular bratwurst sausage bbq’s.

We recently received an enormous collection (IRO 2,000) of vinyl LPs, which will be sold at a fraction of their true value, due to lack of storage. These have now been roughly sorted into various genres, these include:

Jazz - including Bennie Goodman, Artie Shaw, Count Basie, Duke Ellington etc etc
Original soundtracks, both film & musicals - from Singin' in the Rain to Hair
Big Band - Glenn Miller, Syd Lawrence, Temperance 7 etc
Orchestral Pops - Bert Kaempfert, James Last etc
60's / 70's - 4 Tops, Kate Bush, Carpenters etc
Brass & Military Bands
Classical

Loads more from Victor Silvester to Barbara Streisand & even Scottish dance music

It's unlikely that we will be be able to take everything, so if you are interested in a particular genre, please let me know & I will ensure that they are taken in the first instance

It's on the car park, just at the back of the promenade. Normally, the dolmuses go past, but with all the canal works, the dolmuses are going onto the dual carriageway at Dolphin roundabout. You will find it easier to get off by the mini roundabout just before the Pelin Hotel & head towards the Aymes Hotel on the other side of the dual carriageway. Car park is more or less straight ahead from there, just follow the crowds if in doubt!

Hi Bernie it will be nice to put a face to a name at long last.  With all of our recent emails I feel that I know you already    Like Liz says, get off the dolmus on the main 22m road near the Pelin, then just follow the crowds. You can't miss it.
