First Programme You Saw on TV in COLOUR :)
« on: February 15, 2014, 20:58:47 PM »
There's a bit of a reminisce going on over FB way about the kids  programmes back in our day and it got me thinking - do you remember the first programme you saw in COLOUR?

I remember a man delivered our first colour TV and set it all up. There was live cricket on BBC1 - it looked mind blowing - the grass was...green!!! The first programme that came on was Daktari - anyone remember that? :D

Can't remember the first colour programme. I do remember one of our neighbours, who was a football fan, having a plastic film covering his black and white TV screen that was blue at the top and then graduated into green at the bottom. Great for watching football, crap for anything else.

The Welsh headmaster of my South London secondary school hired a colour
TV for a special assembly to commemorate the investiture of the Prince of Wales
in June 1969 - FASCINATING !!! (not)

I don't remember the first colour programme. I remember the first black and white in my house.  It was a Saturday and I had been to the Matinee at the local Cinema with my friend.  We knew the television was being delivered that day.  We rushed home in great excitement and went into the living room the blinds where drawn. My parents and my Grandmother sat in perfect quietness.  We got ushered in and told to sit on the floor and be quiet.   As we sat down in complete reverence and our eyes got used to the darkness we watched in wonder at a Dog Show.

I'm surprised he didn't have you watching One Man And His Dog.  ;)

We've never had a colour television.

Our televisions were always rentals.  I remember our first one coming, again on a Saturday afternoon, but don't remember the programme.  My parents did not believe in buying a T.V. they thought it better to rent one, so if it broke down it would be repaired for free.

Same here. We always had them from Radio Rentals 'til my Mum came into some money in the mid-80s' and she splashed-out on a 26 inch, state of the art TV.

The first black and white programme I watched was the Queens coronation
and they mentioned Hilary conquering Everest.
I cannot remember the first colour programme I watched but the earliest one
that sticks in my mind was when President Kennedy was assassinated.
For hours the screen was purple with the announcement across it.
