Meet the Mayor Agenda

Meeting with Behçet Saatçi Tuesday 25/02/2014

There are more than 60 people committed to attend the meeting. We will meet Outside / Inside the Address Bar (just down from where the Calis Water Taxi docks in Fethiye) our group will leave the address at 13:45 and walk to the council building for a 14;00 meeting.

George will introduce and thank the Mayor,Cagatay and Linda and will welcome people to the meeting and explain the concept and format. George will ask the General Questions, these are questions from people who can’t attend the meeting or do not wish to ask the question themselves and he will call those named below to put their own question. The questions have been summarized to aid translation. We hope to make time at the meeting to ask further questions of clarifications at the end of the meeting.

General Question      Following the work on the Calis Canals a number of footbridges have been removed. Will these be replaced?

General Question      Will Koka Calis become under the control of Fethiye or remain under Ciftlik

CBF Eric                 What are your plans for Uzumlu, especially the roads?

General Question      Will the promenade from Fethiye join up with Calis Beach promenade, if so, when?

General Question      Are there any plans to improve the beach road in Calis from Surf Café to Jiva and Sunset resorts?

CBF Nichola         What are the plans to promote recycling and we he tackle illegal dumping of rubbish and builders materials.

General Question           Broadband Internet is regarded as a must for any growing economy, can the Mayor bring any pressure on TTNET to provide this here?

General Question      We think the cycle lanes are really good, apart from Baris Manco which is full of parked cars, can he help?

CBF Quakers              Are there any plans to build more hotels in Koka Calis
 
General Question      How can we stop motorbikes and even cars coming onto pedestrian areas like Calis beach promenade and Culture centre area?

General Question      What plans are there to improve Ovacik and Hisaronu?

CBF Apollo                 What projects do you have planned, to improve Fethiye and the surrounding area for the next five years?"

General Question      Are there any plans to develop a golf course?

CBF HubbleBubbles           Why do the charities have to pay tax on the shops they rent?

CBF Trainer         Will we be asked to pay again for the new road or drain improvements?

General Question      The new residency rules make it difficult for people who want to spend time and money in Fethiye, does he agree?

Barry Rossoman              I would like to know if all the canals in Fethiye will have brick or concrete sides and when finished

Kevin Duke                 Would like to know more about the reorganisation of the Kemer and Fethiye districts and how this will affect the Charities.

Sandy Eftekin              When will the roads be finished and will we have more green spaces (parks etc)

Alan Askin                  What facilities are planned to help access for disabled people?

General Question      What is going to be done to tackle the problem of litter

Roby Daniels              Would like to know about the new boundary changes, is Yaniklar included and will the change affect bus services
General Question      Can we have more crossings along the new Kordon, especially where there are children’s play parks?

General Question      Are there any plans to put speed cameras on Baris Manco, some cars use this road like a race track

Jenny Turrell              Why is there no assistance for University fees for English residents here and why doesn’t student residence years count towards citizenship

Karen Okka         When will the work on the canal area in Foca area, Devrim Tunc Sokak be finished?
 
CBF UBT                 Would like to suggest Tannoy System improvements

CBF Kynfo                 Will the cost of water to expats in Uzumlu now be the same as in Fethiye?

Rimms thanks for organising this and I hope everything goes to plan, what a great selection of questions and I hope you/we get the answers that we want. From what I have read the mayor sounds like a decent guy  and looking at the amount of questions and the number of people attending he will be a busy man    :)

I too would like to thank Scunner for starting the process of us all being able to do this,and also to Rimms, Cagatay and Linda for making it happen... A lot of the questions being put forward effect most of us who own property or spend long periods of time in Turkey in some shape of form, hope all goes well today  :)

Excellent meeting and very well attended. Many thanks to George Catagay and Sarah and of course Linda who kindly volunteered to take notes. No doubt she will be up all night trying to translate her notes so you can all read the results of the meeting . I have to say a big thanks to George as it was organised so well and he kept the pace moving along so that everyone could have their say. I hope there are more of these meetings. I also hope the Mayor gets re elected as he certainly seems to have the future of Fethiye and surrounding areas in perspective and is keen to see as many improvements as possible.
