July Heat
« on: March 06, 2014, 13:34:33 PM »
Hi there
I'm delighted to be coming to Calis for my summer holidays for the first two weeks of July.
I realise its going to be hot then not sure how hot,  i have two little boys 6 & 3 and Im hoping its not going to be too much for them.
I'd appreciate any feedback or advise from anyone who's visited at this time before.
Thanks in advance.

Brian

Factor 50 all day. Sun Hats. Lots of water drınks and put small bottles of water ın the freezer and when you take them out wrap a small damp towel round them and when the boys are hot put the cold towel round their necks. Then wrap the towels round the water bottle agaın to cool them down. Dont take the boys round the market ALL DAY ıts far too hot for them. Apart from that enjoy.

June, July and August are usually regarded as the hottest months, with temperature in the high 90s to the low 100s. Just make sure they have a good sunblock and lots of cooling drinks on hand. Oh, also a hat.

My son is eight and has been on holiday in Fethiye every August since he was born never had a problem good sun block and plenty of water and try and shade them on the beach. Kids are fairly good at coping with heat you may suffer more.

When my kids were young and when they weren't in the pool, I always kept pouring cold water on their hair, old Spanish ladies passed that tip on. it cools them down really quickly.

Extremely hot, we were told by a local that a lot of Turkish people go to relatives in the mountains in July and August to get out of the heat.   These are two month we always avoid.  We went once in July and the heat was far too much for us.  Too hot to walk around to hot to sit outside.  Be extremely careful as advised with lots of sun block  Also take some child friendly mosquito repellant.

have been going in July with my kids for last 6 summers , yes it's very warm but if you as others have said use sun block hats etc they will be fine , as mine spend so much time in the pool to cool off I make them wear a t-shirt as well. In the heat of afternoon they spend the time watching DVDs (plenty of those to be had at the market) Don't let the heat put you off you will have a great time  :)

For the 3 year old take a buggy or hire one.  My Granddaughter who is usually very active and always running around, really likes a snooze in the buggy when they are out as the heat tires her  very quickly.  My daughter just puts a thin white cloth over my Granddaughter's legs.  They usually go end of April or end of May.
