Car Hire (Again)
« on: March 19, 2014, 17:22:49 PM »
I know there has been a lot on car hire on here but I would still like to ask this question to those that
hire cars on a regular basis. Is this a good quote in your view or can I do better and if so with who?

The quote is for 12 days. 1/9/14  to 12/9/14. The car is Renaullt Clio or similar diesel. All inclusive insurances. Collect car with 1/4 tank of fuel and return with same. This is the email quote.

Fiat Albea,Renault Clio or similar diesel car on September for 12 days £ 231 including insurance, excluding the optional insurance on headlight, tyres and windscreen which is £ 36 for 12 days.Total is £ 267.
But we offer you for 12 days £ 246 all insurance are inclusive.

Be very grateful for your opinions on this quote.

We have hired cars for nine years now, a couple of times per year, usually a period of 5 weeks in total.  When we first started to hire, We used a few companies and we got some right old bangers, that were extremely tatty and with no power.  We also had breakdowns.  However, six years ago we started hiring from one company and have used them ever since, we get a new car in excellent clean condition, with a bit of power, it does not break down.  We have received excellent service from this company.  In our opinion the cheapest is not always the best.  We want no hassle when we are on holiday so always use Fethiye Lovers. We are also happy that they are based in Calis.

Dave,

I would say that price is about right.

I would say £20-£25 per day - and nearer to £20 for more than a weeks hire.

Dave, those figures are about average. Just bear in mind that you'll have other lower offers but cheapest is rarely best.

I always hire from a place in Calis.   Off Baris Manco Blv. Just before you get to beach on main entrance.  Restaurant on the corner called Ali's Bar and Restaurant. At the bottom of that street ( its only 50 mtrs long ) was a night club called Scarlets, so you could ask for that.  In the middle of that street is an internet cafe and care hire. The guys name is Araya.  Speaks good English and they are a fantastic family to deal with.  He will look after you and their cars are usually one to three year old. No probs with these boys. I had a small accident and they sorted it for me. Dealt with the police and  insurance for me. ( It was my fault) I did nothing other than have to thank him for his work .  Didn't cost me a penny?... Have used them for  four years , twice a year, scooter and car hire  and nobody can match their price.  I have a number and it would help to "name drop".   So if you want cheap, peace of mind and great personal service ( he will bring it to you and come back for it if you wish) let me know. ............ PS, I don't get anything for this. :-).  I just think they are great to deal with and I like to throw business their way cause they deserve it.

You should get a car for around twenty a day that's usually for a petrol car, so I would say that's not bad for a diesel

I have hired cars in Calis very regularly over the past 5 years and that looks pretty good, I have just been quoted at £20 per day all inclusive same as you and £26 for a Renualt Fluence Diesel, I will email the quote copy.

Thanks so much for all the replies and advice. Its always best to get advice from those that do know I say and I have got that so again Thanks.

John,.Your quote was almost identical to mine lol. Maybe that's because mine was also from  Fethiye Rent A Car Company. I will now most certainly use them. I did recieve cheaper but there were too many addons for my liking. I also received a lot more expensive to. The reason we want the car is because we plan to drive from Calis to Marmaris. Stay one night then go on to Pamukkale and Ephesus and stay for one night.
Then on to Kusadasi again for one night. Then back to Calis.I know its a lot of driving but I'm looking forward to it. I am just wondering though is it possible to see Pamukkale and Ephesus in one day.Your advice would be welcome on that. Also would it be worth using a satnav for this journey. I have a Windows phone with HereDrive navigation on it. I can download the Turkey map to put on it. Will it be advisable to do so and more importantly worth it. I do have 2 very good maps to take with us as well.
