is it possible to explore the villages around chalis without having to drive through fethiye?

Fethiye is a bit of a dead end anyway so you can get to plenty of surrounding villages and historical sites without going into the centre of Fethiye. Head for the main road (Dalaman one way, Antalya the other) and you'll discover loads of interesting places

Just a thought after reading this and previous posts. Me and Her indoors dont drive, but have always fancied a day out looking at local villages and stopping here and there for a drink. Does anybody know of any companies that might hire a car and driver for the day?, and if so rough guide to prices and advice on where to go to ?.

We've hired one of the Calis taxis for the day in the past not that expensive to go to Saklikent, Tlos, Xanthos, Patara etc

There are dolmuses going to all the villages in the surrounding area. Just jump on one and you'll meet some very interesting people as well as seeing the sights. The cost of a taxi and driver for the day can be put towards a slap-up nosh when you get back.
