A lot of places charge rent in Sterling and with the exchange rate being so high, prices will need to go up.
I can't think of any reason why a Turkish restaurant would be paying rent in GBP, they may even own the building.
The price rises of that magnitude are hard to justify, they do not buy rice in dollars.

Nearly all the business in Ölüdeniz have rents in US$. In Hisarönü they are sometimes in GBP. In Fethiye its a mix, they can be in US$, Euros, as along the new kordon and also in TL which thankfully applies to us. I have no idea about Çaliş but do know rents are cheaper there than elsewhere.

There are also a lot of places as Karaokemark has said particularly in Çaliş and Hisarönü/Ovacık who own the land and definitely have the advantage over those that have to pay rent.

Turkey produces very little rice, it is imported in the main from China and the States and is therefore bought and paid for at the Dollar exchange rate at the time.

Well I did learn something today!

No need to travel to Vietnam to photograph paddy fields, we have them right here at home. I've obviously still got many places to visit here in Turkey   :)

Funnily enough its also the fourth or fifth largest producer of pasta...

We're even seeing Turkish manufactured pasta products appearing in the UK, under the Arbella brand.

We really like the food here and use the place fairly regularly as it's 5 minutes walk from where we live,  picked up the new menu when passing yesterday and I have to say that I'm going to have to work really hard on convincing myself to pay the 40% price increases seen across much of their menu.

And the sad thing is George, they don't give people a choice of a set menu either, I can see a lot of people not using it as much, or not using it at all :(
