Soma coal mine disaster
« on: May 15, 2014, 12:25:29 PM »
Following the recent mining disaster in Soma, Turkey, we want to do whatever we can to raise much needed funds to send over to the families that have been left devastated by this tragic event.

Tuesday night, starting from 8pm VOJO's will be hosting a quiz, a raffle prize and an auction. This will not be possible without your help. We urge you to donate anything you no longer require, for us to raffle and auction.

In return we will provide all of you with a free buffet. There is such a great community spirit in the area and in this terrible time we must all come together and show our support.

You can use the Animal Aid Paypal account for this just make sure it is marked Soma Miners!

We are also donating all monies raised on our raffle at the Table Top Sale on Saturday, we will be there from 11am to 1 pm so please come along and buy a few strips, it is normally 3 to 400 lira but I think this may bring in a lot more this week.

For people in UK Paypal cash donations are best - you (as Andy has mentioned above) use the Animal Aid Paypal account and the link is

http://bit.ly/1enWaXM

If you don't have Paypal you can still donate - look at the bottom left, where it says "Don't have a PayPal account?
Use your credit card or bank account (where available). Continue"

A little will help a lot in this terrible situation.

Please again as Andy has said mark it with a reference like "MINER DONATION" or similar so it doesn't get confused with donations for the animals.

Thanks.

Maybe one in Calis and one in Fethiye is ideal - they could pool the total I guess, up to them.

Kismet are collecting non perishable food items, for example beans, lentils, pasta, flour, etc to be transported to the families.
A few people, myself included have offered to be collection points for these items.

Excellent stuff, it doesn't matter who is doing it, just that someone is - well done to all.
