TURKISH MINING DISASTER (sorry for the capitals)
« on: May 15, 2014, 16:30:23 PM »
TURKISH MINING DISASTER .. YOUR HELP PLEASE
As you all know, Turkey is in a state of mourning because of the tragedy that happened in the mine in Soma. We hate watching the news and see the death toll numbers rising and we feel helpless. What can we do? We can help!
We do not want donations of money but we are asking you to donate food parcels to assist the affected families as they struggle to come to terms and live with this dreadful disaster. Let's face it, brothers, sons, fathers will not be coming home to their families tonight and their future is one we wouldn't wish on anyone. PLEASE, donate some form of dry food that we can send to those affected families?
Their families relied on their pittance of a wage and now they do not have that! Can we please ask you to support us in our wish to support their grief and immediate future.
KISMET BAR is a drop off point for any donations. If you want to donate but cannot get to Fethiye, message us and we will arrange collection.
PLEASE ..... let's do something here and show we care xx

Good idea, I wonder if FETAV is organising something like they did after the earthquake in Van. It was the main drop off point for donations and they organised the transport to get the stuff there.

Also as I understand it there are legal issues relating to raising money unless it is a registered charity or comes under the auspices of an organisation like FETAV so things like food parcels are probably the best way to make a contribution.

Vojos are also having a fundraising night on Tuesday with a quiz night and anything else they can do to raise some money, I believe there is a bit of free food on offer!  But please come down and support them it's a fantastic cause.
On Saturday is Animal Aid Table Top sale, all money taken on the raffle will be donated to this cause, it's usually 3 to 400 lira but this week I feel maybe a lot more! We will be there 11am to 1pm please come and buy some tickets!!  :)
