Segway/tri-bike rentals
« on: August 03, 2014, 12:38:42 PM »
Its such a shame that British parents feel the need to let their teenage kids charge up and down Calis Beach sea front on those aweful Segway/trike bike things. Im currently sat at Letoon Hotel having lunch while the Sea front has been turned into a race track. And they all have annoying Buzzer/horns aswell.
A couple of elderly Ladies have just had a near miss, its only a matter of time until someone gets hurt
Rant Over.

Totally agree as they seem to go so fast . To be honest would love to have a go on one but don't think the seafront a suitable place at all for them . It would be so easy for a small child to be knocked over by one and you don't even hear them coming .

We spoke to  'Speedy' who rents these out back in May. He told us they were illegal on the road and can only be driven up and down the promenade. We then watched him and his buddy zooming up and down regularly while we were there.  I knew then that if they took off during the busy season it would be a nuisance and a danger.  I don't understand how they can be legal on the beach front.   I think they will eventually be stopped but only after a number of complaints.  It means that when you are walking along you have to be  aware of them.  I don't want to do that . I want to walk the promenade carefree and relaxed without having to think of something slamming into me.  As I'm sure 99.9% of people there do.

I have seen these passing through the centre of Fethiye on the main road as well as Calis roads. Calis prom has had accidents in the past with illegal scooters and bikes although signposted not allowed. Very rare anything is done and this year is the worst I have ever seen it. Fumes from scooters passing by and even four wheel vehicles all seen regularly. May used to be the unwritten stop to most of this but no longer.

The only place's you can legally ride the electric trike's are on private land or cycle lanes. Not the the sea front or roads

.As no one seems to stop them, ie  Police,Zabita the people will continue to do so until something goes wrong. To be fair Zabita are to busy with important stuff like stopping people being pestered by staff or moving the boy;s with scales and so on as this is to protect us and our rights. : :) : :)
