Tailor's in Calis
« on: August 25, 2014, 20:11:25 PM »
I have read some really good reports in the past about the lady tailor in Calis opposite the Meri Bar... Now I am not saying she can work miracles but I have a new dress that I love and it is a bit tight does anyone know whether she could do something with it like maybe cut it in the tight area and maybe elastic it, also what is her English like please if I try and explain what I want doing...
It is not an option to buy a bigger size I know that would be the logical thing to do but there are no bigger sizes!!!  ;)

There's also a shop where the Guitar Bar is I think. Don't know anything about it.

Would not recommend the tailor by Guitar Bar. I took a blouse there that was beginning to fray at the seam.  They didn't unpick the lining,  they just puckered it together with stitching that went through the lining.  I had to take it into Fethiye to be redone.

Not had any alterations done by the tailor who is down steps but have had a skirt copied by her, sha did an excellent job.

I always use the one on the Aquapark Road with all the tailor's dummies outside.  She speaks good English and I know a lot of ex-pats use her to make clothes.  I usually get her to shorten dresses for me.  She charges 5 lira per item.  She also added a lining to one long dress I had and that was 15 lira.
She only does items for Woman.
My husband did use the shop by the Guitar Bar to shorten some trousers, they made a good job, but the day we went in, no one spoke English, but it was not a problem we managed to get over what we wanted.

I remembered last night that I have been to the one where the guitar bar is before, it was a sweet old man who did not speak any or much English...
I am going to give the lady one a try I am not normally a dress person but this is to wear IF she can alter it to the Ada restaurant  ;D

Well I must have been x-dressing because she has repaired and altered a number of my items of clothing.

See picture below of me in some of my altered clothing.
