Can someone please explain me?
« on: September 04, 2014, 22:37:43 PM »
Ok i dont want to insult any body, i just need to understand and please explain kindly.
i had this discussion when i sit in my dsc 1 exam. i sit in exam in england and they ask me questions about rules and regulations  in scotland, i asked to the instructor is scotland a country? and he said yes it is, so i asked him why are you asking me questions about scotland , which is another country? as i believe , i sit in exam in england and asking a question about different company is irrelevant.(it is no different to me about asking rules of jamaica, or uruguay) than the instructor told me yes scotland is a country but , not really a country.

can you please explain me is scotland country?
if yes why they need independence from england?
what is this independence referendum thing?
if they say no in the referendum is it going to be a county of england and we will call it like scotshire ?(ie: yorkshire or lancashire ?)
if it is a country do they have embassy ?
are there any countries recognise scotland as a country?
is calling your self a country makes a place country?
do scotland have a king or queen?
i know i ask many questions but it really would like to understand this thing.
thank you

What is a dsc exam?

Knowing this may help with the answer.

England, Wales and Scotland are all countries that together with N Ireland make up the the United Kingdom.

England, Scotland and Wales are all countries within their own right, and each part of the UK. Northern Ireland is a part of the UK too, although depending on where you look, described as a country, province or region of the United Kingdom. Great Britain consists of England, Scotland and Wales. To make the step from Great Britain to the United Kingdom, Northern Ireland is added. The British Isles is all of the above, plus the Republic of Ireland. The Republic of Ireland is not part of the United Kingdom, although Irish is a recognised language of the UK.

I can't understand your confusion Yusuf. :D

I guess you would like your certificate to cover all four countries that are part of the UK, Ytokgoz. Therefore you would need to know about all four countries. Fair enough?

I can understand your confusion though. I was treated at a Turkish clinic and on being discharged asked how much I owed. "No money, but bring in your passport". So the next day I brought in passport. On the cover it says "United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Island. Passport". On the identification page under "Nationality" it says I am a "British Citizen". The administrator nurse said "This is not proper passport. It doesn't say you are English. It is a fake". "No, no" I said "This is a real passport. All English people have a passport like this". She finally accepted this and wrote down my number in her log book. So it was OK.

By the way, I don't think I am English. I am Welsh. Don't worry about it. You don't want me to start asking whether Kurds are Turks, do you?
