Hi everyone, my name is Carol my partner is Rob, we are looking to buy a property in Turkey and move out permanently, use the clis forum a lot as there seems to be loads of info,we are coming out end of August and was going to look in Calis, but we have been told that because of the water inlets there are a lot of mozzies, also that the constant breeze causes the sea to be dirty, I would appreciate any info on these or any other subject of buying in Calis, have spoken to Keith & Heidi who were very helpful, was really looking forward to exploring calis PLEASE tell me you dont have a serious mozzie problem

I could tell you that but it may not be true!  I would say that there are most definitely mozzies in Calis but we still have a house there. We use the screens and the plug ins and try all the ideas people suggest to avoid being bitten (except marmite).

I think you are the only person who can judge if this is a "serious" problem.  Don't know about the sea being dirty though, never known that to be a problem and never heard it mentioned myself but others may be able to fill you in on that one.

Welcome to the forum and keep asking the questions - also use the search facility at the top of the page (there is tons about mozzies)

Hi Carol & Rob, welcome to the forum, never had any probs when i've been in the sea, mozzies may be a bit different, tho they don't bother me cos they leave me alone, they seem to want blood not alcohol, lol. Alan

hi carol and rob
                welcome.
Dont put a mental block on the place,as teresa mentions what one person calls serious a second may call it not a problem judge for yourself.
I would say have a good look round all the areas and then make you can decide.
You will know your own special place the first time you see it,view it a number of times at different times of the day to see it at its best and worst.
have a great hols and viewing

Welcome to the forum Carol & Rob. As has been said, the only people who can decide if the mossie's are a problem are you, keep an open mind and good luck with your search for a home.

The sea in Calis area is dirty? Has any one told the turtles that use the water? Turtles are a sign that the water quality is good otherwise they would not be in the area. Some of them are huge.

the sea in calis is dirty...you just have to look...if you believe its the wind and waves stirring up the silt then fill a bottle with sea water and wait for the sediment to drop, the rest is pollution, mainly sewage, as in fethiye bay where there are various pumping stations pumping it into the sea. i have heard on good authority that half the sewage there is now being treated at the new sewage plant and more to come so the future is looking better..

Hi Rob & Carol
We have a place in calis, Very near the the front and if anyone is going to get bit its me. The roads around us get sprayed every night and i seem to get bitten more in the uk at the moment than i do when we go out to stay in calis. As for the sea, well it looks clean to me but then any sea looks clean to me when you live in southport. 8)
All i can say is we love it and as you will see so do lots of members on here, so keep an open mind till you arrive.
