Holiday review of sorts
« on: October 04, 2014, 12:56:10 PM »
We'll have been back home in the UK for 2 weeks tomorrow  (so upsetting) & i thought i may share some of our holiday memories/thoughts & a few pictures, if they upload ok, with you!

We arrived in Turkey on the 5th September, we stayed for 16 nights at The Hotel Delta, we could not fault the hotel, the staff were wonderful & nothing was too much trouble, the room was cleaned & kept spotless, the views from our room across the bay were to die for, it was so relaxing waking up in the morning to the sound of waves gently lapping the beach, bliss! The sunsets each evening were even better...
Breakfast at the hotel was simple but enjoyable, we ate a couple of times at Bella Mamas, our intention had been to eat somewhere different each night, which we more or less achieved, sadly there were many places we'd wanted to visit & just ran out of time! Our first evening meal at Bella Mamas was as lovely as we remembered, our second I have to say i wasn't so impressed with, they are very busy each evening, maybe our second meal was just down to bad luck...

We also ate at Casa di mamas, really disappointed here, in the past we've had really nice food, i have to say i don't think i'd go back, the service was fine & the staff were great! The food sadly wasn't..

Our favourite was The Calis Beach Indian, being from Birmingham with some excellent Indian restaurants to eat in I have to say although there own take on Indian food it really gives some of our Brum restaurants a run for there money, loved the food here, just wish they could get their Naan bread right lol.....

We had gorgeous fish & chips at Vojo's, we spent another evening here for live music a really good & enjoyable night. Staff here were brilliant with your enjoyment there goal.  I have to mention here huge thanks to the staff for looking out for our youngest daughter Hollie, she stayed for the 16 night duration at Vojo's, they made her feel right at home & comfortable, odd job certainly took her under his wing, making sure she ate breakfast & was safe, this hotel is a little gold mine in the making, basic but has all you need         :) Hollie had a problem with her air con, she mentioned it to them & it was sorted with out any problems, she would definitely stay here again.

Had good food at Cafe Soal & enjoyed a night for one of the staff birthday party, who's name has im affraid eluded me at the moment!! Had a brilliant steak at Echo's - Dawn Beach restaurant, love the lads here & am very fond of Echo who we have known from when he worked at The meeting point.... Also ate at the meeting point, we have always enjoyed food here but our meal here wasn't very nice either, again they were very busy so maybe this impacted on the qualitry of food. Had wonderful food at the Nil bar, a couple of restaurants we went further out to that i cannot remember names were lovely & a couple over in fethiye.

We hired a boat & had a fabulous day out, boat number 8, the food was so plentiful & probably some of the nicest food we ate in Turkey, various salads, potatoes, meat balls, chicken, lamb, fish it just went on & on i would highly reccomend this boat for a trip, what a fabulous day we all had, we also had fun on the sofa bedthings, i don't think i've screamed & laughed so much in years!

We spent time at some of the usual trips, Tlos which i loved hearing the history of & exploring, mind you a couple of the drops as you get higher up leave a bit to be desired, especially if like me your scared of heights, my insides did more than a few rolls!!

We went to the gorge & trout farm, both as stunning as ever, we had a lovely lunch of trout at the trout farm & spent a couple of hours just chilling!! We aslo hired bikes & rode into Fethiye, loved doing this & is a great way to see what's been happening, stopping off for drinks now & then & lunch at Mancero which was superb!

We spent some days on the main beach front along the prom, but spent more days up at Surf beach cafe, this seems more crowded & i'm sure has less beds than in the past, i do like it here though due to no rocks in the sea!! I would like to say that one thing i did take note of was that the main beach was kept clean by the men who take money for the chair.beds, they go along with bin bags & its shocking the amount of rubbish they seem to collect, however they did seem to be on top of things as the only rubbish i saw was to be honest ciggarette ends!! In portugal earlier this year when we went to the beach, they had cones with a round lid, smokers were asked to use these for their time on the beach & return them at the end of the day, emptying into a bin, them before placing them on thier base, this really seemed to work & kept the beach butt end free  :) Maybe this could take on in Calis???

I was thinking of some of the comments & reviews of posts before coming back out to Calis, I had wondered if i would this time really not like it anymore, yes there are neon lights at night all along the proms in both Calis & Fethiye, even the mosque in Fethiye has a neon green light on top!!! Night time is night time, i never really found it over roudy (you had the odd place a bit noisy but it stopped around midnight ) & if you go to the far end you can find more quieter tranquill restaurants & bars, during the day time it still has its charm, sat on the beach front looking out to sea with it's islands & backdrop of mountains, its still stunningly beautiful. I can't quite make up my mind about the canals, they look tidier & are slowly 'getting there', but i can't quite help liking the old canal as you walked away from the front following it round on dirt tracks & it was more like a large stream than river, now its certainly large & i guess will come into its own for home owners when the rains come!! We had a realxing holiday in the main, the people are still lovely, prices were ok, certainly cheaper at the top end of calis opposed to the main areas. I found the 3c's & dropped off my donation for the map i'd asked for a few months earlier for my daughter, totaly forgot to purchase a callender!!!  I've tried to put as much as possible here, i've left loads out but want to keep it short, Hmmmm, not so sure i've managed the latter, we still love Calis warts n all & yes will be back again         :)
