uk home security techies
« on: November 03, 2014, 21:24:24 PM »
I am looking for a ctv type camera to only record during the day, so nothing really fancy.
We live in a very quiet Cul de Sac, the young children like to pay in the street, they are lovely very well behaved and well mannered children; the children are not the problem, we have one neighbour who is a nasty, spiteful piece of work, she intimidates a few neighbours, but not me, she tends to walk very quickly past our home.  I have been informed by one neighbour that she has threatened to run down the children, but as it was only hearsay I thought nothing of it, but today I witnessed her driving at the children!.  well that is it, hackles up, these children are delightful, so I have decided (with the permission of the parents) to set up a CTV type recording device only really needed for when the children are playing.
Anyone got ideas for something simple?

(post here as did not want it to get back to this woman, she has met her match).

I would Google Maplins for starters Loz as they are running a home security sales pitch every week. I find them to be always helpful.

Thank you, I will give it a go.  it is such a shame, the children are only 5 and most of us look out for the children even if they are not our own.

When I had the shop.  We bought a camera etc., from Makro.  It worked really well and even had audio.  We then bought another for outside the house.   Phil fitted them no problem.

I have a Tenvis IP602W wifi camera working through my Vinn MIFI (need wired LAN to set up) and I have live viewing access 24/7. I also have email alarm notifications set up although the wind triggers a lot of false alarms! Here is a current snapshot.

The camera has the capability to broadcast live but I haven't tried as currently on 4gb / 3 months for 49 lira. Not sure whether I will have an issue as the MiFI uses dynamic not fixed IP address, but not as yet.
The camera cost £42 from eBay and seems to do its job, although the drive is pretty boring!

Just to confirm, the camera does broadcast live to the app or website, but I haven't tried recording the output to hard drive

Thats probably your best bet - as in Simons camera.  Just be careful in the positioning of the camera in respect of "her" property, you wouldn't want to give her any ammunition for a potential complaint (to council/Police) against you.

This leaflet gives some broad guidelines relating to domestic CCTV: THE USE OF CCTV IN AND AROUND YOUR HOME
