I would say, even allowing for having some very brief meetings, that members I have met are much as I had imagined.

Perhaps that is why we have made so many good friends.

This year provided a classic example. I hope she doesn't mind me saying, but Brenda and I spent a  little time with lotty and MSB this year and it was as though we had know each other for ages. Is that a CBF thing.

One other thing - the present Mrs H would, rightfully, tell you that my "personna" when in Calis might be totally different to the other 48 weeks of the year when she has to live with me being a pain in the proverbial.  :-[

I think I have met so many over the years, but here goes a few.

KKOB, what a shock when he turned up at ours, I expected some dottery old man who lived in the back of beyond, well, I was right on one count

Highlander, I could understand him, and to this day I still can't.

Scunner, Frighten the life out of me, still don;t think he is funny  ;)

Echogirl1, you had the wool pulled over your eyes, Shopping with him today was pure hell!!!

I am sure I will think of more.

Ok, here goes and apologies if I miss anyone...
Jacqui... As said above, really lovely lady
Highlander, a true gentleman and the lovely Mrs H
Lotty, elegant and exudes energy
Karenina, really sweet, and even offered to help if my son needed it after his awful flight dramas last night
Julie and Gary Veale ..Just love them!
Pookies...absolutely fab people
Diver Baz and Lady Diver, we've had our moments but always seem to come through as buddies!
Hubblebubbles, aka Mavis, inspirational selfless lady
Nichola and Dogan, love them, and it's all their fault for having such a romantic wedding that I gave in and got married too
Scunner will hate me for this, but I actually think he's quite shy, he's so different to how he comes across here, a gentle teddy bear who idolises his family.
And of course the many lovely 3 c's people who give their time and  energy for the local kids here.
The inimitable Rimms and his gorgeous wife, who I'm very lucky to be working alongside helping to get Race for Life up and running.

I'm not going to name names but have met some people I wish I had never met...and people who cross the road rather than say hello because of situations they don't know the truth about and only heard one side.... But I guess you get that everywhere and sadly Calis is notorious for this don't speak to this one or that one mentality. I've learned to value the genuine people here, and happily there are many. I make my own mind up about people, rather than being told who I should and shouldn't mix with.

Bubs mum, one of my best buds here.
Simon and Terrie... Love them lots, They're always there to help all the animal waifs and strays and our dog adores them too.
Busybee... Such a lovely lady, one of my favourite people here.
Mercury.... Well, she used to scare me to death, but has the kindest heart and I love her lots

The biggest surprise is the gorgeous Rindaloo...
She once called me judgemental on here after a comment I made about people in Uzumlu squabbling.
So when Number 2's lovely lads invited us on a boat trip, and said Rindaloo would be coming too I nearly opted out....thank goodness I didn't or I wouldn't have this lovely lady in my life.
Not sure she knows this story...well she does now!

I'm sure there's loads more, but don't know everyone's CBF names.

It's been said so many times, but thanks CBF for making all these friendships possible.

Isn't that just the Calis way - so many people have opinions about others that someone gave them. And they just blindly accept that and make it their own. There were (in fact are) people in Calis who I have never spoken to who have been spoon fed some tale/version about me and that is enough for them. So I had a significant number of people who thought/think (and to this day I have no idea what they were told and am long past caring thanks) I was maybe a rip off merchant/mafia/nasty man etc etc and just accepted that to be true. As Kayakebab says, nobody comes to you and says they have heard something and want to hear your side - that never happened to me even once in 5 years - it's a really odd World!

Ex-pat gossip - nature's way of filtering out the people not worth knowing anyway :D

But this is a happy, positive topic so I will return to that   :)

So many sensational people met due to CBF - I couldn't possibly list them all but if I like you, you'd already know it   :) Sometimes we've been friends so long I actually forget it had anything to do with Turkey or CBF.

Oh and for the record KK, I prefer reserved to shy. I take a while to weigh people up and let myself go fully. Because me with my foot off the brake is rare, and a pain in the ar$e   ;)

kayakebab from your list

Jacqui - have only met briefly
Lotty, elegant and exudes energy - perfect description
Pookies - have only met one half and she's lovely
Diver Baz and Lady Diver - lovely couple
Hubblebubbles, aka Mavis - must meet next time we are over
Nichola and Dogan - always enjoy our visit to their restaurant and our chats
Scunner - scared the hell out of me the first time we meet (a real disaster). Had thought of describing him as cuddly in my first post on this thread but decided against it on health grounds
And of course the many lovely 3 c's people - fabulous people

"I'm not going to name names"...... know what you mean, sadly

Mercury - forthright and a tireless worker for the kids

Rindaloo (big Dave) - bubbly

And the following

shamless2 - more Welsh than Max Boyce and responsible for many very late nights in Scarlett        :)

Anne (the barmaid from hell) and sillybilly - two true friends to whom we will be forever grateful.

toxy     ;) - lots of fun.

kenkay - he of the all-over (well very nearly) tan - lovely fella.

scot - we need to see each other more often.

heatherhanum - splendid times with her and Nigel.

Have probably forgotten someone but will rectify that later.
