Some photos (Aug 2013) here:
http://www.calis-beach.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=56125.0Went across for lunch in August 2013 and last August we went across for two evening meals. Lovely, peaceful place. Great food at the Ada - a bit pricey, but worth it in my opinion. Excellent pides for lunch when we were there (but not for evening meals)
Don't expect roads, cars or shops. Most of the island is mostly made up of people's houses. I would really recommend the visit to combine a visit to the restaurant with a wander. It was just too hot to wander too far in August. I am aware that the Knights of St John used the island as a base for Mediterranean pirating exploits and there's stuff left behind - mosaics, castle ruins etc. I'd love to know more.
As for snakes, as long as you stick to the path, they will get out of your way. You're more likely to be run over by a tortoise than be bitten by a snake. Probably.
