My son and his friends half in the Oykun half in the Nevada.  All preferred the Nevada.

Letoon Hotel

Our experience of Letoon Hotel was the the rooms were very small with next to no storage space for clothes. By the time the present Mrs H had sorted out her clothes there was no room for mine. The upper stairs rooms were difficult to access from the steeply winding staircase late at night even when sober. The electricity was for ever going off. If you were in an upstairs you could hear all manner of "things" running over the roofs. The water in the showers went from hot to very cold in an instant. It was a nightly battle to get the front door lock.

And yet the place provided us year-on-year with absolutely fabulous holidays that we will treasure for ever. That of course was most down to the then host, his lovely wife and the fabulous staff who in a very short time came to be our very good friends. It was also down to the lovely fellow guest we met and who returned each year as we did and who also became firm friends. We stayed there last year after many years away at apartments.

We have also stayed at both the Oykun, Nevadu Su and the Grand Vison.

Liked the Oykun very much and the Nevada Su was OK, Grand Vison was"tired" and need revamping.

Our vote would go to Letoon.

Our experiences of the Letoon mirror yours Highlander. We did not experience it until Aleefs time, and then went back year after year. Our first visit to Calis saw us in the Dawn Beach. But a wander down the prom caused us to meet Nevra. An act of kindness by her to Sues mum completely endeared us to the place
Although we stay up the hill when we visit now, we always visit the Letoon. Indeed we had a weekend away down there in Sept.
Magic.
Thanks for the vote. We just need one more to beat the Oykun and Nevada

It was Alif and Debs I was referring to Hugh and of course Nevra who was a huge part of Letoon's charm (along with Sezgi, Gul, Selcuk, Alladin, Tahsin, Guner, Zeynab (?) ..........................

Oh and of course the location is just to die for.

Sorry folks way off topic - it's suehugh's fault    ;)

My appraisals in brief of all local hotels I have stayed at:

1. Hotel Pelin - Very dated in areas, neither friendly nor unfriendly, adequate rooms, bland breakfast, poor soundproofing.

2. Hotel Mutlu - friendly, fab location, good breakfast, great views, good but unspectacular quality.

3. Harman Hotel - friendly enough, a bit tucked back from the front, comfy rooms, nice breakfast. Still haven't forgiven them for charging me 2 lira in 2002 to warm milk (from the included breakfast buffet) for the kids' bottles.

4. Manaspark Hotel - Great location, indifferent staff, below average breakfast choice, cheaply updated rooms, amazing wifi

5. Oykun Hotel: Friendly staff, great breakfast, nice enough rooms, good value for money.

6. Ece Saray: Obviously fab marina views, best breakfast by miles on roof terrace, slightly pretentious but exceptionally courteous.

7. Hotel Majesty Tuana (Yaniklar) - Really decent AI hotel. Family rooms brilliantly laid out, good food if you don't mind AI, plentiful if restricted alcohol range, as is normal in non-premium brands AI in Turkey. Not much to do around it.

Just my experiences and short opinions  :)

Here are my brief reviews in no particular order...ours have only been on a night basis stay.
Nevada Su loved it amazing powerful shower and big cubicle breakfast reasonable and big comfy bed...

Letoon loved it felt like what I call proper Turkey friendly staff and nice breakfast with the choice also of freshly cooked omelettes...

Golden Moon basic but clean friendly staff breakfast a little basic but was right at the very start of they season and we along with one other couple were the only people staying there...

Delta rooftop suite with hot tub  totally loved it would highly recommend this suite for a special night or to inject some romance back into your relationship!

Remer AI well we never got to stay here for some reason we were never told why we got moved to the Rosary beach would never stay at either if they were free, food and drink at Remer just horrible cheap and nasty and the only good thing about the Rosary beach was the bed was comfy and the location nothing else surly old man on reception who was sharing his fist because I had skied once about the wifi and the second thing was because I asked for a spare pillow!

Yacht Boutique totally loved it lovely views from the upstairs restaurant over the harbour, fantastic breakfast with soooo much choice again a chef cooking fresh omelettes...
We loved this one soomuch we returned here last year and would go back to the Yacht again...

Hi Karennina
Some nice choices. Obviously the Letoon is ours, but would love to stay at the Yaught boutique. We had lunch and a pleasant afternoon there in Sept. What a lovely place.
Worth a visit just to see the toilets.

Last year we made a last minute decision to visit Calis. All the hotels that get a good mention on here were full. So we ended up at the Berlin. In 10 years of CBF I don't think I have ever read anything about it. It has a good location, of course, on the promenade with views out to sea or overlooking the canal. Unfortunately it is a rather tired old place and could really do with some updating.
