April 1st comes early
« on: February 07, 2015, 09:17:34 AM »
Breakfast news are running a piece that supermarkets have been asked to remove daffodils from the fruit & veg aisle. Apparently the bulbs are being mistaken for onions & the leaves, which are mildly poisonous, for Chinese vegetables  ???

Surely, if people are that stupid they should stick to ready meals that only require a microwave, as they shouldn't be allowed anywhere near sharp knives or stoves   ;)

Totally agree.  Both Sky and BBC with this news this morning.  I am at a loss to understand how anyone can mix up daffodils with food.

In our local Tesco the flowers and plants are right at the entrance, just before you get to fruit and veg so I would say quite close.  Although I still fail to see how you can get them mixed up!   ??? : :)

Come on guys, give the Health and Safety folks a break. They've got to create work for themselves somehow.!!

Next week they're launching a campaign to warn people that Tulips are nothing to do with the mouth.!

I believe that this warning was generated by poisoning occurrences in the Bristol area.

As for people being " that stupid ", Liz 101, do you include those people who continue to smoke copious amounts of tobacco products, which have been known for decades to KILL , or the idiots who replace  cigarettes for electronic substitutes, knowing that the active ingredient is PURE LIQUID NICOTINE ??  Stupid is as stupid does !!

Well a friend of mine was admitted to hospital after eating a daffodil bulb. Doctor said he should be out for Easter.
