Maybe its time for GP's of people in certain occupations ie. Pilots, Train Drivers,Sea Crew, Police, ect to
automatically send a second sick note to Employers. People who's occupation can impact on lots of lives.?

What about those who work in food production then ? Or water suppliers ? Or transport companies ? The list is endless.

I would assume airlines check their pilot's eyesight. So why not a full medical to ensure they are fit for the responsibilities of the job, and to be able to cope with the mental requirements and stresses of the job?

They are flying hugely expensive machines - even just because of that you might think they would want to ensure they are in the hands of those in a sound physical and mental state.

Pilots undergo a full medical examination at least annually, some six monthly depending on their licence.
That said if a pilot just goes to his GP his GP may not know what profession he is in.
It would be very difficult to have GP's send sick notes to employers. My GP does not know me never mind who I work for or if I had multiple jobs.

If he went because his employer had sent him, I reckon the GP might get an idea of who he worked for.

I've been our local surgery 7 times in the last year and haven't seen the same doctor twice.
