Sorry if the title is flippant on such a serious matter but I sincerely hope that those who are in a position to, leave this scums cell door open, and more importantly, unsupervised on a regular basis over the next all to short 12 years.

I remember reading about this at the time.  I think 12 years is not enough, he will be out in 6 years and still be a young man able to get on with his life.  The poor lady victim has had her remaining life ruined.
