O.K. Just reaised why we like Calis so much.

After some posts today looking on the downside.  We went to the Market to pick up some supplies. I suddenly realise why I love it here.  The fruit, veg and supplies are so cheap, but excellent quality at a fraction of the price we pay at home one other thing.  The fruit and veg are all different shapes, no uniformity like in the U.K. and they all smell so lovely.
Some examples and one image.
The biggest cauliflower I have every bought 4 lira.
A huge punnet of strawberries that smell lovely 5 lira
Half a kllos of peas in their pods 1.50 lira
Two lemons and a bag of peppers 1.50 lira
A lettuce, spring onions and a bag of cherry toms 4 lira
Four big chicken breasts  9 lira
10 double yolk eggs. 5 lira.

This has made me feel so much better now.  I love the market food shop.  So now relaxing by the pool with that very nice Kipa wine and a lovely scone from the Baba Bakery...Life is good..

See, you are starting to come around.
Spoke to a lot of  clothing and shoe traders in the market today and all complain business is not good. I have to say that the prices they are charging has come down a lot and they are up for some haggling they way they never were years ago.

No worries Bluwise, we are more than enjoying our break here.  Bought some trainers today in the Market as proposing to go out bike riding.  The guy even offered me some of his chips.   People are still lovely and restaurant prices are good.   
We are enjoying our hoiiday very much and glad we are here...

I wasn't trying to make people feel low, or even be negative - it was an observation that, just like the 2008/9 time where people seemed to start moving back to the UK (including us) it does appear that 2015 might be the year of the enough already  

Also with employment comes a restricted amount of holiday days and I feel the need not to waste them. Like Jacqui & Phil if I had a place there and all the time in the World to go away or stay at home I'd find fruit and veg shopping in the warm sun a fabulous way to spend my time too.

Which is fine if you have your own place or are self catering and can take advantage of the lovely fruit and veg available, but not much to tempt anyone in a hotel or especially the dreaded AI!! 

I must admit though one of the things we do like about Calis and indeed Turkey in general, and one of the reasons we go back year after year,  is the people we meet there. Always a friendly face somewhere   

But retirement also gives you the time to explore all the places you never had the chance to go to with limited holidays

One other reason, just where else could you arrive, as we did this week and go out to a restaurant without any Lira?   No bother just order what you want and pay tomorrow, which we did.  We even borrowed some change from Savas (Georges) to pay for the shoe shine.  We were joking with him that it is usually us giving money to the waiter, not the other way around. 
I think we really love the people here, so friendly.

We have been here for ten days now... and now starting to dread the thought of going home.

The beauty of coming to Turkey is we instantly relax.. step into it like old shoes. Know where we are going and catch up with friends.

The days and nights here are simple but lovely.
