Migros, Kipa, Tansas, Carefour all stock a decent range of red wines starting from around 20/25 lira. Cheaper brands can be found in the Mini Markets but are best described as an "acquired taste"  ;)

Migros & Tansas have Beyzade @ 10.40tl / bottle or at Carrefour Sava at same price, both reasonably palatable

IDOL Turkish wines- red, white and rose are all well thought of. They are around 20tl a bottle (£5) and I seen them in Migros today. I always find Kippa more expensive for the same brands compared to other supermarkets and even the independent shops. I also find Kavak both red and white wines quite good. Currently 18.90 a litre at Migros and Carrefour's.

Here is a good tip to improve the quality of any red wine. Decant it into a pitcher or jug and wait 15 minutes before drinking. It really works!

Kavak had improved over the years as have Doluca and Agora, reasonably priced in supermarkets but expect to pay ten to fifteen pounds a bottle in restaurants for even the poorest table wine.Decanting the wine even into a jug and then back into the bottle should smooth out the rough edges as it gets oxygen into it

We recommend ALTINTEPE available in red or white from Migros. Litre bottle costs 16-18 lire. Good value and very drinkable .  ;)

I can recommend CUMARTESI, I pay around 24 lira for a litre bottle in my local shop, but it may well be cheaper in one of the bigger supermarkets.  It's a decent fruity wine, similar to a pinot noir but in my opinion a little more robust.
