Not Polite

Just to let people know some friends of ours ate at the first restaurant on the right once you go over the bridge in calis on seafront, not sure what it is called but has new owners, the food was cold, the drinks were warm and the staff were rude.
When a complaint was made they were told to leave without paying, but were then chased down the road by a waiter.
Not what we want in calis.

Oh Dear what a shame.  I cannot remember the name of that place, but it is getting some good write-ups.

It's called Motto which I praised on here a couple of weeks ago. However the incident mentioned above was my daughter and her friend who were decidedly unimpressed not only with the food, service, attitude and slight aggressiveness of the male staff towards two young females.Wish I had been there !
Make your own mind up but I for one will be avoiding at all costs

These restaurants do not realise the power of this Forum.  We will give it a miss.  I don't like the thought of young girls being bullied.   There are plenty of good restaurants to visit in Calis.

Oh dear, we ate there last year and I boldly made a statement that it was the best food I had eaten in Turkey, bar none.
We are really looking forward to eating there again, and still will, we shall also let you know how we get on!

Please do Cheffy.

It's funny how people get different experiences with staff as well as food in the same restaurants. A well known waiter in Calis was very rude to one of our friends after years of good service. Not only did we all leave (it was a table of 16 to 18 as I recall, all just about to order) - but we all got up as one and left, it was a perfect, silent response, never to return.

That was 2005, and none of us ever ate in the restaurant he worked in ever again, even when he moved to new ones we really liked. There's no need for it and there's no need to eat in places where they treat you badly.

I just can't get my head around this. Why on earth should waiting staff be rude to a customer?  What do they hope to achieve by such behaviour?

It's because they don't know or haven't been trained how to respond when a customer makes a complaint.

The complaint is taken personally, they maybe get defensive, perhaps they are worried about how the boss will respond (to them) if they have to take the complaint back to the owner/boss because someone is asking/demanding a refund, discount or replacement.

The response to and the way in which complaints are managed is set by the owners/boss and it is vital that the staff know how they are to respond in such circumstances. Otherwise you end up with a situation as described as above.
