The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
« on: June 26, 2015, 19:50:05 PM »
Of our June 2015 visit - longer than I had intended, sorry :-[

The Good:
Meeting lots of 3C members, lots of CBFers, some for the first time and renewing old acquaintances. I have to confess to not having caught everyone’s name at Rod Stewarts night so please let me know if you were there. Question: why do most people recognize Brenda first.

Having the pleasure of delivering the Restaurant/Bar Certificates on your behalf.

Not going to bed the same day we got up.

School visit to see first-hand where the monies raised by the 3Cs goes (a real highlight for us).

The present Mrs H trying to switch the air con on with the TV remote and when I cheekily asked which channel she was looking for she answered “ How would I know”. (Steph Campbellesque it was).

Being given a Race for Life wrist band which I will treasure dearly.

Meeting Mavis from Embrace.

The Rod Stewart evening – superb entertainment and a result for the 3C’s

Having the Chicken Teriyaki at the Grapefruit Restaurant at Letoon. One of the very best meals I have ever had in Calis and possibly the only time I have cleared a plate.

The superb musical entertainment in the Guitar Bar. I love the sound of a mandolin.

The temperatures not be as hot as predicted.

Believe it or not the flight meal on both legs.

The Bad:
(Boring people with this review)

Having to tell Brenda that I wish I had taken our bed with us. The reason – my suitcase padlock keys were on it (ah dear Chic Murray)

Underpaying for our transfer with Fethiye Airport Transfers. For some inexplicable reason I managed to convinced myself that I had paid more on the Dalaman – Calis leg and offered the driver the balance on the way back. This sad state of affairs will be rectified.

Being told I spoke like Sean Connery – by an Aussie.

Our visit to Motto Restaurant.

Being propositioned by a beautiful blond girl on a dolmus. Sadly she was not offering a night of unbridled passion for a hopefully reasonable fee but she was offering me her seat on the bus. That’s twice that’s happened now.

Mistaken “tricky Mickey for karaokemark and another man called Mick for mickinblack. It’s an age thing.

People at Dalaman who sit down at the gate and plonk their hand luggage in the space next to them thus depriving someone else of a seat.

Loud people who have no consideration for others.

Not going to bed the same day we got up.

Passing an apparently really serious road traffic accident on the airport road where it seemed that a vehicle had gone off the road and careered down the ravine.

Not that it affected me personally but6 the price of drink on Thomas Cook Airlines.

Being asked by a fellow in the Guitar Bar for 15tl because I had been on the beach that day.

PA system on both Thomas Cook Airlines and at Dalaman Airport.

Falling out of bed one night. I was dreaming.

Hearing about people who refused to pay for drinks that they had ordered when pi**ed.

The muppet in row 2 on the way out that had so much hand luggage that he had to store it above Mrs H’s head in row 10. Even before the plane at stopped he shot out of his seat, pulled 3 pieces of luggage from the overhead locker, stacked them right beside Brenda’s seat and waited there to get off.

And the Ugly:

Witnessing a fight between two kitchen workers at Letoon. One was dismissed on the spot.

Catching my reflection in the mirror on more than one occasion.

The amount of litter and empty Efes bottles left in the Letoon gardens.

How could I have forgotten the following under The Bad

Big fat guys of a certain age, clearly suffering from mid life crises, bombing down the prom on over-sized quad bikes, stopping at the Amora Beach Club for no other reason than no-one can see them and turning round and bombing up the prom again.

Get a life guys !

At Dalaman

At Glasgow Bus Station. And these idiots were not even in the bay that they were catching a bus from. Inconsiderate or what  >:( >:( >:(. After having their picnic lunch they moved two bays down to where their bus was leaving from.

A quiet word, followed by loud ones if required can create seating space for people.  Inconsiderate ble##ers.

My point kevin3 is that it seems that manners, to many don't undetstand.

Kind regards

JOHN

But as you and many others, including myself have witnessed Turkish people seem to have the manners to give up their seats to others.

As regards your bar bill I have come out without my wallet.

Off Calis topic but on topic for irritation - I stopped on one of my many journeys home from Harrogate at an Asda for a sandwich and a few bits and went to the self service bit (because it looked quicker) - and there was a couple with a full trolley of shopping pointing longwise at their scanning thing - husband standing adjacent to it one side and wife the other - so she was standing directly in front of the scanner/"bagging area" that was now mine for the use of.

With each item I literally had to lean across the front of her to reach my "bagging area" and she didn't move at all. So with each next item, I accidently barged her a little more than the last, till she got the message.

I have also had the nob who rushes down the plane to empty his goods from the locker above me and decides it is quite acceptable to stand with his arse in my face till we get to that bit where we can actually stand up officially. Suffice to say I have (literally) broad shoulders and sharp elbows.

I find people are generally ignorant t0ssers, my wife thinks I just like to moan.

Scunner, you and Phil Harvey need to start a CBF Grumpy Old Man Travelling Club.   Of course beng older and more grumpy Phil, could offer lots of advice of grumpiness when travelling.  He has the market cornered, having practised for years now and each year he goes up to the next level.

So nice to meet Brenda and your good self at the Rod Stewart night and then again on Calis seafront where we interrupted you as you were just about to swig the largest glass of white wine I have ever seen. Hope to see you again sometime. 8) 8)
