High Threat
« on: June 30, 2015, 21:59:40 PM »
Hi Just wondered if you could help me out, flying out to Calis Beach in 4 weeks and debating whether to come out or not due to the recent attacks in Tunisa. According to sky news Turkey is on high threat and was just curious if anyone could help me out? Getting a bit worried!

The UK terrorist level threat is at the second highest - SEVERE which means an attack is highly likely.

So do you want to stay at home ?.

What that map you have shown isn't telling you is that the UK is officially on 'Severe' alert.

No one can guarantee anything about anyone's safety. Anywhere.

There is a high threat in the U.K. too.  Only today there was a major exercise in London a rehearsal for an attack.  So, Britain should be red on that map too.
Spent 5 lovely weeks in Calis in May and June and will be back for 4 more in September.
ISIS want to stop tourisml, weaken countries economies so they can take over.  I for one will not be playing into their hands.
I feel a lot safer in Calis than I would in London.

We are coming to calis next week.

If I reacted to all terrorist incidents I wouldn't travel the 10 minutes from my house to Glasgow airport, scene of our own terrorist incident in Scotland.

As jacqui said, London is probably more dangerous to visit and I go there sometimes for work.

Its a personal choice, but I for one can't wait for my holiday and the hospitality of all the lovely Turkish people that make our holidays great.

I fly home to Turkey tomorrow, I have no qualms about doing so.
I would rather walk around the streets, lay on the beach etc & feel safer than I do walking around the streets of most UK towns & cities!  :-\

Please can you stop relying on the more sensationalist news organisations! I tend to put Sky news (there's contradiction in terms) at the same level as the Daily Express and the Daily Star.

I feel far more uneasy commuting into London for work.

Have a fantastic time in Calls you will love it

We have been going to Calis since 2002 and last week got back from our latest 2 week visit. If I could go back tomorrow I would, with bells on!

As other posters have remarked the UK is on a severe terrorist threat but that doesn't stop us all from going about our daily lives.  Also as Menthol said there is no 100% guarantee of safety anywhere in the world but it has to be a personal decision whether you go or not, but the Turkish people you will meet will welcome you with open arms and be so friendly you will have a wonderful holiday    :)

The map is for tourist destinations, it's very misleading showing whole countries and not only the dangerous parts.
And it seems to have forgotten that millions of tourists visit the UK which is on the highest possible level, severe.
I personally think there's more danger of having an accident on the way to the airport.
Sugar is the new killer that's going to get us, but I'm not avoiding that either.
