Jacqui, I know this is going to come as a huge disappointment to you, but, I really don't care what you think of me.

My sister-in-law ( Gordon's sister) started reading this series of books 20years ago, she often in that time foisted the books on me, but they are really thick books, 8-900 pages, I just could not get on with them, the first book is so slow and I returned it to her, she tried again and again to get me to read the series, eventually I gave in and read the first book, I nearly returned it half way through but kept going as she would only try and get me to read it again, well it did pick up and I started to enjoy the story.  I have now read 8 books and soon to start the last one, not the final book as I believe that Diana Gabaldon has begun another.

The series was due to air in the USA, its was funded by UK National Lottery, with mainly Scottish and English Actors/Actresses, using Sony and USA Starz productions.  My sister-in-law and a few friends were upset that they were going to miss out on the series.  The series started to air 9pm usa time on a Saturday, I would get up at 4am UK time and download the episode and post it to YouTube, after the 2nd episode Youtube slapped my knuckles and told me not to do it again.  I then made a small forum for approx 10 family and friends to view the series, by episode 4 over 3000 people had found my site, these were from around the world, Vietnam, iceland, Tasmania and the list went on.  at the time USA had the only viewing privilege.

The forum is still going as many of the countries have the series dubbed into their own language and they want to hear the original Scottish.  We have members who are Tour operators for the Outlander Experience, and many who make their own way to the locations used and have watched the filming.

For those who want to see if it is for them here is a link to series 1 Episode 1, download and watch on your computer.  http://1drv.ms/1fX7sIg

Unfortunately it is not on normal TV Channels, it is Amazon Streaming that has bid for the Season 1 and 2, there are no plans for it to air on TV other than Amazon.   The DVD for Season 1 is due to be released in the UK in October.

That is another that is now available, but the ones that are members of my forum could not possibly come to grips with click this click that, block Ads, they are hard work,  When the Series first aired a year ago in USA it was not readily available on sites like icefilms,  Netflix and Amazon are a proverbial pain to watch if you don't have a good internet connection.

Hi Loz,  you could always download it to your hard drive or a pen drive, watch it using a free video player such as VLC and then you are not reliant on your internet speed or connection.

I've just tested a download of Outlander Episode 1 from icefilms and I can achieve it in 6 clicks, with the first click to select it and the sixth click to start the download. It's going to take 23 minutes to download so I don't think that's too onerous considering it's free.    ;)

Each to his (or her) own

I downloaded the first series on my Kindle and it took very little time.   Really passed the time watching it on our journey to and from Southampton.

Loz - whatever works for you, Icefilms works ok for me, I don't share so I don't use any cloud storage.

I've sent you a PM

Thanks for the recommendation Jacqui, just finished watching Outlander. Loved it!

Stunning photography by Neville Kidd just makes me want to tour Scotland all the more and they have been filming a second Outlander series...
