Syrians?
« on: August 09, 2015, 21:24:42 PM »
Hi - We are home on Guernsey and heard a short time ago some second hand information that there are immigrants in Çalis looking to squat in empty apartments. We are over to our apartment again soon and just wondering if there is any truth in this or just a rumour.
As nothing is showing on the forum we are thinking it's unfounded.
It has started with a Russian apartment owner by the VW dealer in Gundlabashi
Thanks, Robert.

No heard nothing.  We have an excellent maintenance company looking after our place, so we can relax and have no worries.

There was a similar story in the paper a short time ago, but that was Bodrum, not Calis

At the start of the year, there were Syrian families staying in the Dost Hotel and we did notice a few around the area and Carrefour & BIM workers were commenting on them having alot of custom
from Syrian, but they appear to be long gone now.

I suspect that once the sea warmed up they took the migrant boat trip across to Kos from Bodrum, into Euroland, and in some cases perhaps on to Calais.  That's Calais not Calis!!.

And no I have not heard any stories of any squatting in this area.  Mind you if you keep reading the expats site - the Corporal Jones website - then you'll probably live in fear of everything here, including your own shadow  ;)
