The man with no decency.
« on: August 20, 2015, 17:03:37 PM »
Mr Harry Clarke the Glasgow Bin Lorry driver.

As if he has not caused the six families enough grief, he now compounds it by refusing to answer questions.

I don't know how he sleeps at night.

A thoroughly obnoxious individual.  >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

He has been advised by his solicitor not to answer any questions that may incriminate him.

I think they were too quick to say he would not face prosecution in light of what we have learned since.

Unlike you H, and many others including Mrs Scunner, I have some sympathy for the guy.

I think it's a bit premature to castigate the man just because  he is exercising his legal right.awas he driving yes,is he culpable, too early to speculate. We should really wait for the outcome of the pending prosecution, remember this will be judged on the civil burden of proof i.e balance of probabilities.
Tragic for all concerned including the driver

After being warned by Sheriff Becket that he did not have to answer incriminating questions, Mr Clarke acknowledged that he understood.

Over the next few hours, he exercised his legal right not to answer many of the questions put to him.

I think any decent person has a degree of empathy for him Keith.
If he was an honest man, he would have declared the blackouts to both the DVLA and any new employer.  He now has to live with his decision not to and the consequences thereof.
Whether or not he is charged and prosecuted with any crime we will need to wait and see.

I agree Anne - he is guilty of lying etc but in the modern age it is less usual to see a man who could quit and live on disability allowance lying to be able to go out and earn a living.

Doesn't excuse what doing that caused, of course it doesn't but wanting to earn a wage is the motivation behind a terrible accident.

He hid previous incidents of blacking out whilst driving in order to get the job

in Glasgow, according to reports in the media. If that is true it is totally unforgivable

and he deserves everything he gets. 6 innocent people and their families deserve justice.

Their deaths were preventable and should have far more worth than one mans desire to

dishonestly get a job on the bin lorries.  Just my opinion.

He is facing imminent civil charges brought by the families of two of the victims of this tragedy, so has every legal right not to answer any questions which may make it more difficult for his defence.

Sheriff: Do you know that six people died on December 22

Clarke: I do not want to answer that question.
