Help! Cheap travel insurance for oldies
« on: August 28, 2015, 15:45:44 PM »
Jacqui Harvey posted about a new company offering amazing £50 deal for one-off travel insurance, but I can't find her post. Please help! I've already booked for OH (just turned 80 so no longer eligible for free travel insurance through bank) through Saga but can change with small surcharge as long as I do it soon.

Saga is one of the best companies around. I would think twice about changing it.

Highlander, I am sure I know already, but can you explain why you went with a more expensive(seemingly) insurance cover.   :)

To be honest I'm not really sure.

Just felt more comfortable with Saga and since we have never had to make a claim there is no logic behind that either.

Have only ever had to make one claim on travel insurance when with Tesco - nightmare.

We are insuranced with our Bank.  RBS.   We have claimed twice.  Once for Phil's emergency root canal and once for my gold watch which I lost in Istanbul.  Both times we had no trouble and got our claims paid out.

I would go with confidence. Never went with the cheapest.

Unfortunately, we had to make a claim in 2008 when I had a seizure at Glasgow Airport.

Some of the questions I was asked about my claim were bizarre.

The young lady who I spoke to asked if I had pre-booked the Premier Inn Room that Mrs H had to use the night that it happened.

To which the obvious answer was "No. But had I known that I was going to have a major medical incident, I might have considered it"    :(
