Glad to hear it.  I think wild animals often go to places where they will be fed regularly.  We have had a pheasant come to our garden for about 5 years now.  He comes and eats the bird food we leave out for the other wild birds.  He also brings his two wives every Spring and then his kids.

A couple of years ago, I saw a young English couple going to put 10TL in the "Feed The Pelican Box".
Before he put his money in the box I asked him what pelicans eat.  His answer was "Fish".  I pointed to the sea and said "What swims in there?".
Again he answered "Fish".
"Yep, I know where you are coming from" was his reply and put his money back in his wallet.
When I asked the Guy at the Pelican why the box was there, is answer was, "We only feed the birds on the best fish from the market", my reply was " Are the fish you buy a different fish from what is out there?"  "Yes we get the fish from further out to sea". "B*****ks was my reply, you are just ripping the tourists off."
I don't blame those people who put the box out, if people wish to donate to the staff, (which it was) that is their choice, I certainly would not put any money in a "Feed The Pelican Box" which is by the sea.

It's obvious the restaurant feeds the birds to keep them there, so it will attract customers, but I think it is a bit cheeky to expect the customers to pay for the food.

I am not saying that they do not feed the birds, but I very much doubt if they are going to buy fish from the fish market unless it is fish they cannot sell to humans.  As for the rubbish about buying fish being caught out of the harbour is a load of bull***t
The small boats that sell their fish by the fish and chip boat are a lot cheaper than the market obviously.
These birds will not get fed every day by humans, they must catch their own fish as well.

I noticed last week that along with the pelicans the "feed the pelicans" box has also made a reappearance...

Perhaps any members living in that area could take along their discarded fish heads and bones, and drop them in the box.!

  Every little helps.        ;)

The pelicans are conspicuous by there absence. They have not been there for the last couple of days although the donation box is still there.

One of the locals saw e looking for them and he pointed up to the sky. I'm not sure whether he meant that had "popped their clogs* or jus flown away.

Hopefully, he means that they've flown away for a while.

If someone said "look at that dead pelican" I wouldn't look up at the sky.

I bet a few RTE supporters would though.  ;)
