Sorry Jacqui - no idea of the other Brian Adams.

Had heard of the pottery though.

Ever the antique dealer, eh?

Brian Adams makes  modern reproduction Wemyss Ware.  He is the Curator of the House of Marbles, Wemyss Pottery in Bovey Tracey.

I specialised in Scottish Pottery and particularly Wemyss Ware.  When the Pottery in Kirkcaldy, Fife closed in the 1930's a Czech called Jan Plichta bought the rights and started a pottery in Bovey Travey and brought down some of the Potters from Kirkcaldy. They sucessfully made Wemyss Ware until 1957.   However, in  the 90's Brian Adams revived Wemyss Ware in Bovey Tracey and started to make it again.  Unfortunately, his pieces have little secondary value.  The original Scottish Wemyss Ware mades the most money followed by Jan Plichta  Pottery.

The Pottery was named after the Wemyss Family who had Wemyss Castle in Kirkcaldy.  However, I know a girl in our Bank whoses last name is Wemyss, not as good as your connection though Scunner..  :)

Wow did this thread go off on a tangent!!!!  Anyway back to the Jehovah Witlesses.  We had a kingdom hall near us so were often on the sunday outreach programme, which was why I always kept a copy of Marx's Capital nearby for when they called, when they pulled out the bible, I pulled out Marx .. it used to perplex them enormously. : :)

Back on track.
I once had  a couple in my shop with a little boy who was 6 years old, it was Christmas time.  They were browsing and I was speaking to the child.  I asked him what Santa was bringing him.  The Mother immediately turned on me and said "We are Witnesses, we do not believe in Christmas and getting presents it is a load of rubbish.  He will get nothing"  She then gave me a lecture about, Christmas, Easter, Birthdays and no presents for any of these occasions.  It then gave her an excuse to start to preach to me..
I looked at the boy and he had such a sad look on his little face.  I was thinking to myself, he must have felt so left out in his class at school, when all the other children where so excited about Christmas and he was getting nothing.

Maybe he was at a non-Christian school, so Christmas wouldn't bother him ?

They should be banned from door to door cold calling, full stop.!!  I've seen 3 examples of them working
their way into peoples homes and causing families to split.    Parasites.
