Indeed Anne - as the tragic events in Burkina Faso demonstrate.

I too love Istanbul but I don't think I will ever go back there.

Does that mean you'll never go to London, Paris, Madrid etc etc?

Nah I'll still go to London

I suppose if we never go anywhere where there is a risk of trouble, then we will be consigned to the back garden for holidays and the like   ;)
I intend to go where I want (within reason, no point in being blase) But our flights are booked for May & July and we will be landing at Dalaman come whatever, then it will be the usual fantastic time as each previous year 8) 8) 8)

I do not own a property in Turkey or have any financial dealings there, so I am not bias of those grounds.  I choose to come to Calis because I feel as safe there as anywhere else, lets face it, is anywhere really 100% safe anymore - sadly the answer is not really, even here in the UK anything could happen at anytime, but you can't put your life on hold worrying about what might happen.  So unless I am told otherwise I shall be in Calis for two weeks end of Sept/beginning of Oct - the flights are already booked.

From my point of view I was looking to come out back end of February or beginning of March to do that the only flights I could find cheap enough where from Stanstead to Sabiha Gokcen then on to Dalaman (Pegasus) there had already been a reported explosion at the airport and then one in Istanbul itself so it made me think twice. After speaking with the wife it seems that I was worried on her behalf and she’s not that bothered so just looking at her and my shift patterns and will book by the end of the week happy days  :D

Well said Anne.

We are booked and actually booked for a longer trip than ever this time, due to early retiremnet here in the UK, as said where are you safe! We are going to enjoy our trips to Turkey, but yes, there are areas we would probably not stay in, you just need to be sensible and aware while you are there.

And enjoy yourselves, life can be cut short in a flash, and not by terrorists
