Dont blame the british media. What have the Turkish tourist board done about it? BUGGER ALL. And what has this got to do with original topic?
Err... that's actually not true. While the Minister for Tourism is a complete buffoon, they have implemented (and supported) a number of projects to boost tourism and to support workers in the tourism sector.
The $6,000 "fuel" subsidy given to all airlines carrying tourists into Turkey has been extended through till September.
Financial provision has been made to support Tourism sector workers - this one's a bit vague and it may only be for three months (and of course the obligatory membership of AKP!).
They've started exploring new markets (geographically) with government assistance - Ukraine for example. Its an old forecast, but they expect up to one million additional tourists with the help of new routes in Ukraine from THY.
Some may not like it, but they are also promoting Halal tourism - don't forget, Turkey is a mostly Muslim country.
...and to stay on topic, The Grapfruit sounds like a lovely wee place and well deserved of support
