Turkish baths in Calis
« on: July 08, 2016, 22:21:06 PM »
Although I've been to Calis several times, I've never had a Turkish bath. Plan to put that right when I return next week and would appreciate advice/recommendations. Thanks.

over the years we have tried quite a few different places but always go to the Oykun Hotel in Calis now and would not want to go anywhere else - £10 or 40 lira for sauna, steam room and of course the turkish bath - lovely and clean facilities - and try and have a massage (bit extra but think it was just £10)  both the lady and the man there are excellent - nice place also to relax after with a drink and lunch.  We always go on the first morning of our holiday

Turkish Baths, Three Hotels... The Oykun, The Nevada, The Blueberry.(Blueberry is the most luxurious)  There are two dedicated Turkish Baths.  One on the road that runs at the back of the prom.  It is called The Sultan, there is a big red sign outside, you cannot miss it.  The other is on the little road that runs from the public toilets and the taxi rank at the prom. Cannot recall the name of that one.
The one Turkish Baths that I hear most about in Fethiye is the at the Ata Park.  I know a lot of ex-pats like that one.

Hi have tried a few in Calis and our favourite is the Oykun as felt really comfortable in there proably as they are used to dealing with tourist. Our least favourite was the Sultan mainly as there were a number of local Turkish men using it which shows it must be authentic but made me feel uncomfortable as they stared a lot.

Its the least authentic then.  Men and women should be totally separate in a hammam - male attendants should never wash a female and vice versa.  If they have a mixed session, its for tourists and the only Turkish males you'll see are likely to be just there for a perv, as you found out.

Sorry my mistake as didn't make it clear. The men were waiting out in the reception area and they went in separately but still felt uncomfortable
