Turkey’s central bank increased its benchmark interest rate to 15 percent. Monetary policymakers hiked borrowing costs from 10.25 percent, the central bank said in a statement on Thursday.

The TL had strengthened to 10.03 at midday.

According to analysts, Turkey had an opportunity to raise the interest rate to a much higher level today, but in the end have only done the bare minimum.
