Coronavirus - A Local Issue

Hopefully not but we can now leave our decision nearer to the time. Its said we are about 2 weeks behind Italy but I don’t think anyone really knows what will happen. I’m also booked to come to Calis at the end of April which is probably more of a worry due to only being 6 weeks away but que sera sera.

We are due to cruise with Marella (TUI) in May. No Italy stops but still a worry as to whether it will sail or be cancelled. TUI don't appear to be offering much in regard to cancelling/full refund.

I was reading on a Marella Facebook group today that a couple on our cruise had upgraded from an inside cabin they booked to a balcony cabin. The main reason they said was that if the ship ended up quarantined they couldn't bear being in a cabin with no windows, confined for days on end - with a balcony at least they could see the world a bit, and let some fresh air in.

This struck a chord with me. I rang TUI and asked how much it would be to upgrade an outside cabin to a balcony cabin. £371!! I told them they have cruises cheaper than that right now! (They don't but not far off).

One thing is for sure - if they go, we go

I popped into our local garage today (on a treasure hunt for toilet roll, unsuccessful as it turned out but shelves were generally well stocked).

There was no notice on the number of units you could purchase on this item but in the end I thought I would do the decent thing and leave it for someone else.



PS The cost may have been a very slight consideration.

Without Googling I'd guess the RRP is around £40 but as it's in a garage they'll probably be asking £55 ?

On another matter, our local medical group (who are very good and who we really couldn't fault, especially two years ago) have the following advice on their website:

If you live with someone who is 70 or over, has a long-term condition, is pregnant or has a weakened immune system, try to find somewhere else for them to stay for 14 days.

My question would be: Where would you suggest ?
